#One National Park Street
NEWCASTLE,澳大利亚
Jennifer Marchant is an award-winning art and design practitioner based in Brisbane, Australia. She is renowned for her public art and design projects that enhance the built environment nationally. Celebrated for her sophisticated approach, Jennifer skillfully explores the interplay of light and shadow to capture the essence of form and place. The foundation of her projects is built on thorough research, historical context, and a deep understanding of the significance of each location. As a natural placemaker, she leaves a lasting mark on important spaces while also enhancing the elegance of everyday urban landscapes.
The core of ‘One National Park Street’ focuses on simplicity and how different dimensions interact. She examines how flat shapes can become three-dimensional objects, combining line, colour, and form in exciting ways. Light plays a significant role in her art, as it accentuates the shadows created by these elements, adding depth and movement. For instance, a single circle that's gently folded illustrates her journey from flat to three-dimensional. When two circles interact, they create a visual and conceptual conversation.
Jennifer describes her concept as rooted in simplicity, focusing on how form, line, and colour converge and layer. The stunning sculpture was created in collaboration with our Brisbane team and GWH. Made from an oversized 2,200 x 9000mm long aluminium sheet, it elegantly integrates with its surroundings, suspended 7,000 mm above the ground. Its design features central CHS columns and a 76.2 x 6.35 mm SHS frame that outlines graceful circular forms. Each disk is 3400m in height and the subframe also incorporates rolled SHS framing to follow the circular edge. Finished with a high-quality wet spray 2-pack automotive coating for both aesthetics and durability, the sculpture embodies a unique vision with a scaled-down approach for a cohesive painted finish. Expert engineering ensures that the connection to the base slab supports the artwork's weight while maintaining its visual integrity, with graphic treatments on the batten façade enhancing harmony with the environment.
