The intricate geometric designs draw inspiration from the way light and wind create reflections of the sky on water, as well as markings found on cultural artefacts from Wadawurrung Country and southeastern Australia. These patterns depict interconnected pathways that reinforce our ties to family, culture, and community, portraying the journeys of individuals and groups as part of a larger, continuous story. Waa, the crow and ancestral spirit, oversees and is entrusted with the guardianship of our waterways, while the chosen colour palette pays tribute to the deep significance of water and Sky Country for the Wadawurrung and other First Nations peoples. This relationship symbolises the enduring connection across generations, facilitating the transmission of knowledge and culture.
