Mark Hagen
#Sea Wall
NEW YORK CITY, USA
Mark Hagen brings his unique artistic vision to the newly renovated 17th floor at this Confidential Financial Firm’s headquarters. Hagen's artwork goes beyond just form. It engages viewers in conversation and ignites curiosity. His sculptures, installations, and paintings perfectly combine control and chance, blending practicality with beauty, often evoking references to geological times and ancient civilizations.
‘Sea Wall’ is the centrepiece behind the main reception desk on the 17th-floor conference centre. Inspired by Japanese wave-dissipating concrete blocks, the artwork symbolizes stability amidst the chaos, echoing the core values of the Confidential Financial Firm: strength, fortitude, and innovation. Composed of modular units arranged vertically onto an aluminium frame, the screen disrupts visual continuity, inviting viewers to engage their imaginations as they navigate the interplay between concealment and revelation. This sculpture seamlessly integrates with its surroundings, becoming both seen and seen-through.
Our Curatorial team led this Confidential Financial Firm through a comprehensive visioning workshop, ensuring the artwork resonates with the company's values and mission. The screen artwork spans approximately 17 feet wide by 8 feet 5 inches tall, creating an impactful first impression for visitors, clients, and employees alike. The screen embodies strength, trust, and innovation, establishing a lasting legacy within the newly transformed headquarters.
