Jarni McGuire is a Whadjuk, Ballardong and Yuat woman, born and raised on Noongar Boodja (country) land in Boorloo (Perth). From a young age, Jarni was passionate about creating things but was uncertain about where to direct her energies since she had a love for trying everything. In 2021, Jarni established Jarni Creative, which has enabled her to explore a range of art mediums, including acrylics, digital, public art such as murals, and more recently, sculptures. Jarni's work involves incorporating traditional stories and art into modern contexts inspired by her culture, language and community. She values the importance of Noongar protocol and actively engages with her community to learn and share their stories. Jarni believes that a lot can be learned from different art forms, and she is passionate about using her creativity to share her culture in her unique way.
