Zigeng Wang

Zigeng Wang is the founder and principal architect of Pills (Beijing), a design and research studio focused on contemporary spatial culture. Through architecture, urbanism, interior design, installation, media, and writing, Pills explores the intersections of capital, spatial politics, environmental control, and technology. Wang is also a lecturer at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing, and his work critically engages with the mechanisms of spatial production, aiming to depict contemporary worldviews and human conditions.
Architect Wang has received numerous accolades, including first prize in the Fairy Tales 2015 International Architecture Competition and national awards in China. His work has been exhibited widely, from the Venice Architecture Biennale to the National Building Museum in Washington, DC. He has served as an architectural consultant for Jiang Wen’s film The Hidden Man, contributed to the Beijing Winter Olympics 2022 opening ceremony, and curated exhibitions on urban regeneration and industrial heritage. Wang has also taught at institutions including Tsinghua University, Beijing Film Academy, and Syracuse University.
