#Chinatown Gold Coast

GOLD COAST, AUSTRALIA

Dan Plummer of Plummer and Smith was commissioned to design a range of street furniture for the new Chinatown Gold Coast development. Plummer’s designs draw inspiration from Chinese mythology and the local context. The winding rivers, urban flow, and tidal patterns of the Gold Coast were a metaphor for the serpentine form of the dragon- disappearing and reappearing throughout the precinct.

The contour seat is a response to the urban landscape design of the Chinatown streetscape. The seats are custom designed to fit within the edge of two planting areas, defining gathering areas within the precinct.
