#Oracle

NEW YORK CITY, USA

Standing 25 feet tall and weighing more than 15,000 pounds, the monumental bronze sculpture Oracle serves as the cornerstone of Sanford Biggers’s public art exhibition at Rockefeller Center. Accompanying the artist’s Chimera sculpture series as well as other unique installations that are accessible all throughout the complex, Biggers combines African and European styles of art to reference worldwide globalization and diaspora. While still acknowledging the past, Oracle lives in the present to remind millions of the great influence African culture continues to have on New York City.

From a collaborative design development phase, through production and into the final installation, our New York team was thrilled to closely work with Sanford and his studio. This monumental sculpture was cast in bronze using a sand-casting technique. The varied and complex elements of the artwork were assembled, finished, and patinated, all in close coordination with the artist.

Presented by Art Production Fund and Rockefeller Center, and in partnership with Marianne Boesky Gallery, Oracle will be on display in Rockefeller Center until July 12, 2021.
