Renowned Australian artist Emily Floyd invited UAP to produce an artwork edition of five sculptural parrots. Expanding on the artist’s interest in the great works of European literature, each parrot takes the name of a ‘literary parrot’, beginning with Poll from Daniel Defoe’s Robinson Crusoe. Born into a family of toymakers, Emily’s artistic influence is hard to miss in many of her works.

Combining Emily’s traditional hand-carving techniques with advanced manufacturing technologies, UAP used a 3D scanner and robotic router to translate the artist’s wooden Marquette, upscaling to create the set of cast and painted aluminum parrot sculptures.

Emily Floyd is represented by Anna Schwartz Gallery.
