#Byerb Ibaik (white brass skull)

Dennis Nona was born on Badu Island, in the Torres Strait, where he learnt wood carving as a child. He has transferred this skill to linocut, etching and in more recent years, sculpture. His work draws heavily on the myths and legends of the Torres Strait, and is held in the collections of major galleries around the world. Byerb Ibaik is the name of a death ritual and refers to pre-colonial death customs in the Torres Strait Islands.

Dennis Nona is represented by the Australian Art Print Network and Art Mob.

UAP is proud to have funded the first edition of this work.
