#65,000 Photographs

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM

London-based artist Idris Khan was commissioned to create a permanent sculpture for One Blackfriars, a boutique luxury residential development in South Bank, London. Titled 65,000 Photographs, Khan’s landmark sculpture reaches skyward in a tower of textured blocks that reference photography in the modern age and the almost forgotten art of photographic printing in the digitised world. At an inspiring scale, the towering structure stands at 8 metres tall, with the blocks increasing in size in relation to the dimensions of standard photographic prints.

UAP worked closely with Khan and his team on the design development of the work which required rigorous engineering solutions to ensure that the artists vision was achieved. Cast in aluminium, UAP fabricated and installed the work, signalling UAP’s second successful collaboration with the artist.
