Pan Zhanjie

The Moon Guides the Tide is a collection of art featuring two pieces by British artist Matt Sherratt, along with other works that contribute to the theme of the moon, the river, and peace, situated at the Qiantang River in Hangzhou, China.

Featured in Moon Guides, the Tide is our very own Design Manager, Pan Zhanjie. She works closely with artists, clients, and production teams to deliver artworks that are both creatively compelling and technically feasible. Her background in painting and sculpture enables her to bridge concept and execution, while her passion for nature and the supernatural continually informs her creative approach. Zhanjie draws inspiration from organic forms, patterns, and energies, crafting works that resonate with both place and story.

This sculpture draws inspiration from the gentle ripples of the Qiantang River in Shangcheng, a Hangzhou district renowned for its affluence during the Southern Song era, Wuyue, and Qiantang River culture. It stands as a beautiful oasis on the lawn, providing a calm escape from city life.

Zhanjie and our Qidong workshop team created an organic, fluid moment of stillness with HARMONY. We 3D printed the structure and completed the forging of stainless steel. We applied putty and finished it off with white paint.

Together, this installation, along with CORIOLIS, Heartwood Tales & River Spirits, and Moon Tide, creates an experience celebrating the magical blend of ancient Chinese waterways and contemporary art, transforming Hangzhou's riverbank into a vibrant cultural hub.
