illuminated waterwall is one of two high profile signature artworks for the
redevelopment of The Star, a hotel and entertainment destination in
Darling Harbour, Sydney.
The product of a collaboration between Sydney-based contemporary artist Jonathan Jones and Jamie Perrow, the concept is inspired by the Australian Indigenous approach to conceptualising time based on changing environmental conditions and events.
The waterwall captures seasonal moments selected by the artists from the surrounding Sydney Harbour environment and translates them into animated patterns and imagery that evolve throughout the year. Integrated harmoniously into the building’s facade, the waterwall provides an engaging experience both for visitors to The Star and for pedestrians and motorists in the surrounding public realm.
